include at least five members: Chairperson, Vice Chairperson,
Secretary/Treasurer and two Members at Large.
- Decide on the name of the centre/group.
- Become a CanTRA member. Submit centre/group name and

service; he/she may be willing to assist with the Constitution and
By-Laws.
- Apply to register the name of the centre/group (your
local MPP's office will advise you).
- Apply for status as a charitable, tax-exempt
organization (your local MPP's office will advise you).
- Review insurance requirements (information is
available from the CanTRA Head Office).
- Review Instructor Certification Guidelines (available
from the CanTRA Head Office). Discuss available personnel and training
requirements with the CanTRA Certification Committee Chairperson or the
CanTRA Head Office.
- Determine the fee schedule for lessons.
- Determine the number of teaching lessons for a
specific trial period, plus the number of horses and riders.
- Determine honorarium to be given to Instructors.
- Negotiate fee/donation of services concerning stalls,
number of horses, feed, blacksmith, tack, veterinarian, etc.
- Lease or rental of an arena should be considered.
Your lawyer will help with the formal written agreement.
