Part Time Therapeutic Riding Instructor The North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association (NFTRA), in Maple Ridge, BC, has an opening for a part time therapeutic riding instructor starting in September until December 2010 with possibilities of continuing throughout 2011 and beyond. Candidates must be certified with the Canadian National Therapeutic Riding Association minimum requirement CanTRA AI certificate. Requirements: • To be able to work independently as well as in a group • To have good communication skills both verbal and written • To work cohesively with all staff and NFTRA board members • To maintain confidentiality and use discretion • To maintain rider records and complete reports to all government agencies as required • Attend new rider assessments and lead volunteer training sessions • To be able to direct volunteers prior and during lessons • To complete other duties as required Please submit your resume and expected rate of pay to the attention of the Program Coordinator at nftra@shaw.ca by August 9th, 2010. Internship Opportunities Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre, Puslinch (near Guelph), ON Sunrise Therapeutic Riding & Learning Centre, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, provides internship opportunities as part of their year-round therapeutic riding program for children and adults with special needs. The intern will work towards instructor certification through the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association (CanTRA). Through full-participation in all aspects of the Sunrise program, interns gain knowledge in therapeutic riding, horse care, and stable management. Working as part of the Sunrise team five days per week, interns live in the century stone farmhouse on the Sunrise property free-of-charge. Sunrise’s interns are trained by Nicola Thibodeau, CanTRA Coach & Examiner, and, on a daily basis, Krista Breen, Sunrise Head Instructor, CTRI, EC Instructor. All of Sunrise’s instructors are certified therapeutic riding instructors through CanTRA and interns will have the opportunity to work with, and learn from, these instructors. The level of certification that will be achieved by the intern is dependent on the intern’s background and length of stay at Sunrise.
