Para-Equestrian Canada Needs Your Help

Wanted: an Ontario venue to host a National Para -Equestrian judges' clinic for one day in October 2007.
They need a minimum of 4 classified Para-Equestrian riders able to show Grade I to Grade IV.
Please provide information regarding local hotels/B&B's etc.

Sea to Sea Winter Series Dressage Competition
Para-Equestrian Canada is introducing the sea to sea winter series dressage competition. The competition is a unique experience and allows riders to compete in the comfort of their home stable and on familiar horses. Deadline dates are, January 15 2007, February 15 2007, and March 15 2007. Videos received after these dates will be kept for the next deadline. Videos received after March 15, 2007 will not be judged. Entry is a flat fee of $60.00 paid in advance for all three competitions, or $25 per test/competition. Riders must be members of Para-Equestrian Canada. Applications for membership can be found here. For more information on the event please see the event information page.
Rider Classification Cards - CanTRA's Process

Classification at the National Level:

Riders wishing to be classified for purposes of competition at the national level can obtain wallet cards from the CanTRA Office. Cards will be issued using the following process.
  1. The Rider will complete the classification process as per the Rider Classification System.
  2. A Rider wishing to have a wallet card for purposes of competition will provide a cheque, made payable to CanTRA in the amount of the required processing fee.
  3. The Classifier will forward the completed classification assessment information, along with collected rider cheques to the CanTRA Office for processing.
  4. CanTRA staff will:
    1. Verify that the Classification Information is complete and signed by a qualified Classifier.
    2. Add the Rider to the Classified Rider Database
    3. Issue a wallet card to the Rider, authorized by CanTRA’s Executive Director.

* Replacement Cards will be issued if the original card is lost or if the Rider’s disability changes such that a new classification is required.

Classification at the International Level:

Riders wishing to be classified at the International Level must be re-classified by a qualified classifier from another country. Cards for this level of competition will be issued by the International Equestrian Federation.

The Appaloosa Competition All-Breed Activities Program (ACAAP) has added a category for the rider with a disability. This is a horse enrolment program, and individuals or programs that are using registered Appaloosas in any competition can receive recognition for their achievements and participation.
